"Generally
one would expect a brief bio of the author at a site like this, but
in this situation I can offer very little information about Eric Leeds.
As the editor of a midsized publishing house, I wouldnt be expected
to know all of our many authors well, but I can honestly say that
Ive spoken with and have some personal knowledge of most of
our writers. However this is not the case with Mr. Leeds; as he remains
as much a mystery to me today as on the day I met him.
Mr. Leeds
appeared at my office late on the evening of April 30th in 2001 with
his manuscript. It is not unusual for would be authors to come to
my door, but it is most unusual for them to make it as far as my office.
Normally my secretary, Brenda, protects me from the madding public.
On this date Brenda had already left for the night. It was my thought
that she had locked the door behind her, so I was quite surprised
to look up and find Eric standing before me. Shocked might be a better
way of putting it.
We discussed
his work briefly, he made a few predictions, both for me personally
and for the world in general and then he left me with his manuscript.
Erics manuscript sat in a pile of other unread manuscripts for
sometime. When his first prediction came to pass, I picked it up and
read it. It is an interesting story. And, I understand that there
is a hidden message woven into the tale that can only be detected
by connoisseurs of American music.
I do
hope that you will enjoy this book, whether you are up to the riddle
or not. The Devil's Tale, by Eric Leeds is available through this
site, or at any book store and of course any public library through
Ingram."
